Use Keyboard shortcuts

First, let’s learn how to take screenshot of the entire screen.

Just press Shift+command+3.

when you press the above shortcut then a screenshot of the entire screen will be taken and the respective screenshot will appear as a thumbnail at the bottom right corner of your desktop screen. if you leave it there then it will automatically save to your desktop by default.

But if you want to take a screenshot of some particular portion of your screen then press Shift+Command+4.

This will led your pointer to turn into a crosshair icon. Move it to where you want to start the screenshot and drag to up to the portion where you want to end your screenshot and release the mouse or the trackpad.

Tip: You can press the escape key anytime cancel the screenshot before releasing the trackpad or mouse if you have changed your mind.

In order to take screenshot of a window you can press Shift+Command+4 and then space bar.

Pressing the above shortcut will change the icon of your cursor to a camera’s icon. Then by default the screenshot tools will start appearing at the bottom of your screen. Also, you can move them around the different corner of your screen as per your convenience.

In this toolbar, you will find the controls for taking a screenshot on the left hand side. Here, you can choose to capture the entire screen, a single window or a portion of a screen. Meanwhile in the middle of the toolbar, you can also find tools’ icons for recording your entire screen or recording any portion of the screen.

In order to view the screenshot customization options, click on the options button at the right-hand side of the toolbar. Here, you will find useful settings and features. For example, setting the screenshot timer or changing your files’ save locations.
